The Clipper butterfly (Parthenos sylvia) is a species found in Southeast Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, and parts of Malaysia. It belongs to the Nymphalidae family and is known for its large size and beautiful, intricate wing patterns. The upper side of its wings is a mix of dark brown and vibrant blue-green, with eye-catching patterns of white and black spots, while the undersides are more muted, with brown and beige colors that help it camouflage when resting. The Clipper is commonly found in forested areas, flying gracefully among the trees. Its larvae feed on plants from the Passifloraceae family, such as passionflowers. This butterfly is admired for its swift flight and the striking contrast in colors on its wings, resembling an elegant "clip" shape, which is how it gets its name.
