I’ve always felt most at home in the wild— wandering through forests, tracing butterflies, and camping beneath the desert stars. My love for the natural world runs deep, but it was only a few years ago when my journey with butterflies began. I found myself disconnected and burnt out working a 9-5 that left me drained and didn’t leave space for creativity or meaning. So I made one of the most significant changes in my life.
I left the city, moved to the desert for a while, and slowly began returning to my creativity and things that brought me joy
That’s when butterflies entered my life in a way that felt almost symbolic. I visited a butterfly garden during that time of transition, and something shifted. Their cycles of transformation and fleeting beauty spoke to everything I was moving through. I became fascinated and started learning as much as I could about them until I eventually started to collect them.
Datura Bloom Co was born from that place: a return to Self and to the Wild, and to creative work that felt honest. I blend my love for entomology, art, and the earth. Every piece I create is a celebration of nature's magic, an intentional offering for those who feel that same pull toward wild places and the creatures that inhabit them.
responsibly sourced & cruelty free
we carefully vet all of our suppliers to ensure that every specimen is sourced in the most humane and sustainable way possible. all insects used in our work come from trusted butterfly farms and sanctuaries and none are harmed in this process
hand-crafted & slow made
from preserving and pinning each specimen to building custom frames and assembling final displays. I do it all by hand, with care, intention, and a deep reverence. this is slow work, and I believe that’s part of what makes it meaningful.
supports conservation
by sourcing from trusted farms and sanctuaries, we help support systems that value and protect butterfly habitat. these farms often release a percentage of their butterflies back into the wild to strengthen local populations — creating a sustainable cycle that benefits both people and pollinators.
our process
every piece begins with responsibly sourced specimens from butterfly farms and nature sanctuaries around the world. the insects arrive already deceased and are first gently rehydrated— a process that restores flexibility to their delicate bodies. once rehydrated, each specimen is hand-pinned and positioned on a mounting board with precision and care, allowing their natural form to be preserved in detail.
after drying, the specimens are framed using scientific methods and artistic composition. some of our displays are set in double glass frames, which we handcraft ourselves—from cutting the wood and glass to assembling and sealing each frame. this method creates a floating effect, giving each piece a clean, timeless presentation that allows the viewer to enjoy both sides of the specimen
every display requires hours of focused, meticulous work and we genuinely love every second of it <3
"When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not" Georgia O'keeffe

Butterfly and insect preservation has been around for centuries—originally as a way for scientists and naturalists to study the natural world up close. In the 1700s and 1800s, it became common to collect and display specimens, both for research and as a way to admire their beauty. By the Victorian era, framed butterflies were showing up in homes—not just as decoration, but as symbols of curiosity and change.
Today, I see preservation as a way to continue that tradition—but with more care and intention. For me, it’s not about collecting for the sake of owning—it’s about honoring these creatures and sharing their beauty in a way that invites others to slow down, reconnect with nature, and notice the small, magical things we often overlook.
