julia longwing & dido longwing shadow box
This piece features the Julia Longwing (Dryas iulia), native to Central and South America as well as the southern United States. It is part of the Heliconiini group, known for their unique ability to feed on pollen, which contributes to their longer lifespans compared to most butterflies.
It also includes the Dido Longwing (Philaethria dido), found throughout Central and South America. It belongs to a group of butterflies closely associated with passionflower vines, which play a key role in their life cycle and evolutionary history.
🌿 Each insect is unique and no two pieces are alike! Every frame is labeled on the back with their names and origins
