monarch butterfly
one of the most well-known and beloved butterfly species in the world, famous for its striking orange and black wings and its incredible migratory journey. they are native to north america but are also found in australia, new zealand, and other regions. one of the most remarkable aspects of the monarch is its annual migration, where millions of these butterflies travel up to 3,000 miles from canada and the US to their wintering grounds in central mexico. the journey is made by several generations with each one continuing the migration where the previous one left off. monarchs rely heavily on milkweed plants, which serve as the sole food source for their caterpillars and provide them with toxins that make them distasteful to predators.
the monarch butterfly is not just a symbol of transformation and beauty but also of endurance and survival, captivating scientists and nature lovers alike.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
Your butterfly frame is a delicate piece of natural history and should be handled with care to preserve its beauty for years to come.
- Display indoors in a dry, stable environment away from direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause natural colors to fade.
- Avoid humidity and moisture. Keep the frame away from bathrooms, kitchens, windows with condensation, and other damp areas.
- Keep away from heat sources such as radiators, fireplaces, heaters, and strong heating vents.
- Handle gently. When moving or hanging your frame, hold it by the frame itself and avoid touching the butterfly, wings, or other specimens.
- Dust carefully. If needed, gently dust the outside of the frame or glass with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Do not spray cleaning products directly onto the glass or frame.
- Do not open the frame unnecessarily. Opening the enclosure can expose the specimen to dust, moisture, and accidental damage.
BOOK LICE AND PEST CARE
Although rare, it is possible for natural butterfly specimens to occasionally develop book lice. These are extremely tiny insects that can sometimes appear as small, dust-like specks inside the frame.
If you notice what appears to be dust moving inside the frame, carefully open the frame and gently remove the insects from the specimen and interior surfaces. Once the frame has been cleaned, place the entire frame in a sealed plastic bag and freeze it for 48 hours. This can help eliminate any remaining book lice.
To help prevent book lice, keep your frame in a dry environment and away from excessive humidity or moisture.
